PSL 2023 final highlights – Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalanders

The 2023 Pakistan Super League final was played between the Lahore Qalandars and the Multan Sultans on 18 March 2023 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan. The Qalandars won the match by 1 run to become the first team in PSL history to defend their title.

The Qalandars batted first and scored 176-6 in their 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman top-scored for the Qalandars with 60 runs off 44 balls, while Mohammad Hafeez scored 38 runs off 24 balls.

The Sultans chased the target aggressively but fell short by 1 run. Rilee Rossouw top-scored for the Sultans with 65 runs off 42 balls, while Shan Masood scored 48 runs off 32 balls.

The player of the match was Shaheen Shah Afridi, who took 3 wickets for 27 runs in his 4 overs.

The win was a fitting end to a successful season for the Qalandars, who had topped the league stage and then won all three of their playoff matches. The Qalandars’ victory was also a boost for Pakistani cricket, which has been on the rise in recent years.
