ASIA CUP 2023: FULL SCHEDULE, FIXTURES AND VENUES, ALL THAT NEED TO KNOW
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup in 2023 is set to be an exciting cricket tournament featuring One Day Internationals (ODIs), jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Six teams will participate in the competition, scheduled to take place in August and September 2023. The defending champions are Sri Lanka, who will look to retain their title.
This edition will mark a historic moment as it will be the first Asia Cup to be co-hosted by multiple countries. Pakistan will host four matches, while Sri Lanka will host the remaining nine matches. The participating teams will include the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Joining them will be Nepal, who earned their spot by winning the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup. This will be Nepal’s debut in the ACC Asia Cup, a significant milestone for their cricketing journey.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced the pathway structure and calendar for 2023 and 2024 in January 2023, confirming the dates and format of the tournament. Originally planned for 2021, the event was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, cricket fans can look forward to thrilling matches as the fixtures for the tournament were officially announced on 19 July 2023.
