‘That’s a massive boost for us’ – Edwards pleased to get first big World Cup win out of the way

Scott Edwards drove from the front to take the Netherlands to their most renowned ODI World Cup win ever – their first over a Test-playing country in quite a while at the competition – when they beat South Africa in Dharamsala on Tuesday. He was “incredibly pleased” with his group, and “exceptionally eager to move our most memorable success” in this release, Edwards said at the show service after the game.

“We came into this competition with elevated requirements, we feel like we’re playing great cricket, we have a ton of good players… however in saying that, we realize that there are nine other excellent sides here,” he said. “In this way, better believe it, extremely eager to move our most memorable dominate after three matches and ideally hardly any more to come.

“That is an enormous lift for us. In both the initial two games, we were in fair positions, however, we kind of fell away through the center. Pleasant that we could assemble a couple of organizations toward the end and get ourselves to a complete which we thought could be serious.”

Edwards left when the Netherlands, in the wake of being placed into bat, were 82 for 5 with very few expert players left. That before long became 112 for 6 and afterward 140 for 7, however, Edwards collaborated with Roelof van der Merwe for 64 runs for the eighth wicket, and afterward, an electric 41-run represented the 10th with Aryan Dutt in close to no time – Dutt crushing 23 not out in nine balls – to take Netherlands to 245 for 8.

It didn’t seem a game-dominating completely at that point, however, it was surely cutthroat, as Edwards said, and perhaps more than whatever South Africa suspected they would need to pursue.

Edwards got done with 78 not out in 69 balls, which later procured him the Player of the Match grant.

“I thoroughly consider the last several games, our issue’s been an excessive number of our center request players getting out before the finish of the game,” he said. “So I was simply sort attempting to take it profound and trust that several people around me chip in and… better believe it, we were sufficiently fortunate to get I don’t have the foggiest idea the number of towards the end there, yet it was great.”

“We came into the tournament and, we wanted to have a chance of making the semi-finals, and if you want to do that, you’ve got to beat teams. South Africa is probably one of the favorites, the way they have been playing. It’s a big win for us”

In the first place, there was van der Merwe, the one-time South Africa worldwide, who scored 29 out of 19. “He’s great and enjoyable to bat with,” Edwards said. “He runs hard, which I like, and he hits it to very odd regions. Great to watch and I’m certain it’s great from an external perspective also.”

And afterward Dutt. “I think it was quite kind with my sake [batting with Dutt],” Edwards said. “I simply kind of got him protesting and he was clearing the ropes. That is probably the best hitting I have found in quite a while, particularly from a No. 10 bat. In this way, he has the ability, and seeing today was great.”

In case it wasn’t already obvious, Dutt hit three sixes in his appearance, one each off Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Gerald Coetzee in the last three overs.

And afterward, the bowling bunch met up. South Africa was 44 for 4, then 109 for 6, and similar to the Netherlands innings, there was a touch of late-request obstruction, however, it was an excessive lot for them to pull off.

“Better believe it, glad, I assume, of the gathering, and placing in that presentation, in general, and having the option to have my impact,” Edwards said. “We came into the competition and, we needed to get an opportunity of making the semi-finals, and if you believe should do that, you must overtake groups. South Africa is presumably one of the top picks, how they have been playing. It’s a major success for us.”

With the Netherlands playing South Africa, there is dependably the discussion of how much a portion of the Netherlands players have profited from their time playing in South Africa. There is a feeling of commonality and, not to neglect, the Netherlands beat South Africa at the T20 World Cup last year as well.

“We have folks who have played with these folks previously thus, better believe it, we concoct a couple of match-ups, and occasionally it works and every so often it doesn’t,” Edwards said. “Indeed it’s pleasant that a couple of things fell off today.”

What’s more, it’s a period for Netherlands cricket fans, some of whom were at the ground, to celebrate.

“I’m certain there’s a lot of fans keeping awake from watching the game,” Edwards said. “There’s dependably a ton of allies around. Thus, no doubt, incredibly thankful for all the help we’ve had and ideally a couple of messages from them and something like that.”
